In order to feed the next generation of Nigerians, a legacy from the past must be preserved
Chef Alice Jegede, 1926 – 2024, fed Nigerians at her restaurant in Benin City, Edo state for over thirty years. Her cooking was a taste above the rest, with 99% repeat customers. Chef Alice loves to cook anywhere, at any time or at any corporate event, including parties sponsored by the defunct Bendel State Marketing Board many years ago. Despite living in the United States, her son, Dr. Philip took it upon himself to make sure Nigerians across the country have access to the fresh and quality ingredients she uses in her cooking. As a socially responsible person, Chef Alice fed on credit those who did not have the money to pay for food, as well as gave away free food to the extreme poor. She recognizes that indigent newborns and their mothers suffer from hunger in Nigeria. In support of the Alice Jegede Feed My Children Foundation, Chef Alice donates 25% of the profits of Alice Jegede Gourmet Foods Nig Ltd. Through the Alice Jegede Feed My Children Foundation, free infant formula and food is provided to indigent mothers and their children.
